Chocolate Sheet Cake with Chocolate Frosting

Chocolate Sheet Cake



This chocolate sheet cake with chocolate icing recipe is the perfect crowd pleaser. For smaller groups you can cut the recipe in half and use a 9x13 inch size pan.




Ingredients for cake:
1 cup butter
4 Tablespoons cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup water
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions for cake:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Bring to a boil the butter, water, and cocoa. Remove from heat.
3. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
4. Spread mixture onto a large 1 inch deep cookie sheet. Bake for approximately 20 minutes.

Ingredients for Chocolate Icing Recipe:
1 cube butter
4 Tablespoons cocoa
6 Tablespoons milk
1 box of powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts, if desired

Instructions for Chocolate Frosting:
1. Bring to a boil the butter, cocoa, and milk. Remove from head and stir in the remaining ingredients.
2. Spread over the cake immediately when you take it from the oven.


Note: This chocolate frosting recipe can be used on cupcakes or brownies. It has a rich chocolate flavor!
