Chocolate Cherry Cake
The Perfect Valentine Cake
This chocolate cherry cake makes the perfect valentine cake. Delicious, yet easy to make with a red heart on top created with cherry pie filling.
Ingredients: 1 box chocolate cake mix 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 16 ounces cherry yogurt 3 large eggs 1/4 cup lowfat milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 12 ounces lowfat Cool Whip, thawed 1 can cherry pie filling
Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two inch round cake pans. 1. Blend cake mix, cinnamon, yogurt, eggs, milk, and vanilla for 2-3 minutes on medium speed. 2. Pour into cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes until done. Cool to room temperature. 3. Carefully lay bottom cake layer onto a cake plate. Spread 1 cup of Cool Whip on the top of this layer. Keep the cool whip around the edges only; spread 1 cup of the pie filling in the center. 4. Top the bottom layer with the second cake. Arrange the remaining pie filling on top in the center of the cake in the shape of a heart. Spread remaining Cool Whip on the top of the cake being careful to leave the heart shape alone. Spread along the sides of the cake as well. 5. Chill for 2 hours before serving.
