Fabulous Chocolate Chess Pie Recipe

Cheers2Wine is pleased to share this fabulous Chocolate Chess Pie recipe. My father grew up in a small Texas town where this was a popular dessert.

My brother and I used to argue over who was going to "lick the pan" whenever this pie was being made in our house. The ideal dessert for chocolate lovers!

chocolate chess pie Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tablespoon cornmeal
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1 pie crust

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Melt butter in a medium bowl in the microwave. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla. Mix well.
3. In a large bowl mix together sugar, cocoa, cornmeal, flour, and salt. Add egg mixture to this bowl. Blend well. Stir in pecans if desired.
4. Pour into pie shell. Bake until crust is golden brown and pie filling is set. This takes approximately 60 minutes. If the crust is cooking too fast, cover with foil.
5. Cool to room temperature. Chill for several hours in the refrigerator before serving.
